Chanting Meditation Group
Wednesdays from 5:00 - 5:30 p.m. during January and February

Together in Sound and Silence

Welcome! Within each 30 minute session, we’ll explore the mantram, meditation and the chants we’ve all sung at church – Present Moment Wonderful Moment, Everything is Changing, I Have Arrived I Am Home and Like The Empty Sky.  There will be four segments and each chant will be preceded by a short meditation session.

Repetition of a Mantram
Silent repetition in the mind of a Holy Name or hallowed phrase.  I recommend Here/Now.  On the in-breath, simply repeat silently in your mind – Here.  On the out- breath – Now. You may prefer to use another mantram that is familiar to you from your own spiritual tradition.

Chanting Tips: Take a deep, low belly breath at the start of each chant and at the breath marks. Sing with a free, flowing line paying attention to each word.

Meditation on a Passage
Silent repetition in the mind of memorized inspirational passages or you may choose your own form of meditation.  I recommend the combined words of our first three chants beginning with the mantram:

(in-breath) Here / now (out-breath)
Breathing / calming
Present moment / wonderful moment
Breathing / healing
Present moment / wonderful moment
Let nothing / upset you
Let nothing / frighten you
Everything / is changing
Only now / is changeless
Patience / attains the goal
Who has now / lacks nothing
Now alone / fills all needs
I have arrived / I am home
In the here / in the now
I am solid / I am free
In the ultimate / I dwell
